Role Overview

The Staff Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation in the Radiation Oncology Department, delivering precise therapy to diverse patients according to physician prescriptions. They operate radiation equipment safely, perform complex technical procedures, and participate in quality control and safety measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate treatments, assess patients, and provide specialty care considering age-specific needs.
  • Document in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and educate patients and families on side effects and treatment aids.
  • Follow safety protocols, use radiation badges, and manage patient mobility and fall precautions.
  • Simulate new patients, schedule treatments, and notify patients of changes.
  • Assist in on-call duties, participate as a clinical instructor, and support team needs.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited radiation therapy program.
  • Certifications: ARRT Radiation Therapy and BLS (Instructor preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of radiation therapy experience preferred.
  • Ability to treat and simulate patients effectively.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong adherence to safety, documentation, and patient education.
  • Willingness to perform additional tasks and support team efforts.
