About the role
A Staff Radiation Therapist in the Radiation Oncology Department applies ionizing radiation to patients following physician prescriptions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver precise radiation therapy treatments
- Perform patient assessments and document in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Educate patients and families about treatment procedures and safety
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and participate in quality control and safety procedures
- Simulate new patients and manage patient set-ups
- Adhere to treatment plans and assist with on-call duties as required
- Serve as a clinical instructor and mentor for trainees
- Perform additional tasks as needed, including complex technical procedures
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in radiation therapy (preferred)
- Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy program
- ARRT-T certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Therapy)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Ability to effectively treat and simulate patients
- Adherence to safety standards and institutional policies
- Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing quality and safety protocols

- Strong communication skills for patient and family education
- Ability to manage complex technical procedures and patient care
- Mentorship and clinical instruction capabilities
