Responsibilities

The Radiation Therapist administers radiation therapy treatments to patients under direct supervision, ensuring accuracy in positioning and delivering the prescribed dose. Key duties include:

  • Accurately delivering and recording radiation therapy treatments under the direction of a radiation oncologist and chief radiation therapist
  • Entering and maintaining patient treatment parameters in the electronic medical record
  • Participating in the clinical instruction of newly hired therapists and students
  • Assisting in maintaining the patient appointment schedule and submitting correct billing information
  • Cutting blocks and making custom molds when applicable
  • Completing simple MU calculations and interpreting computerized treatment plans
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy technology program
  • ARRT certification required
  • Valid state license for radiation therapy

Physical Demands

The role requires:

  • Regular sitting and use of hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Occasional standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds
  • Vision and hearing corrected to normal ranges
