Radiation Therapist

This position is sign-on bonus eligible.

Position Highlights

Schedule

Day shift, weekdays (occasional late shifts).

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy (Required)
• Registered & Certified as a Radiation Therapy Technologist by the ARRT or Deemed Registry Eligible & able to sit for the Radiation Therapy Certification Exam
• Valid CPR Certification – BLS

Responsibilities

• Delivers and records radiation therapy treatments under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist
• Works closely with the medical team to review images and port films for patient set ups, selection of treatment devices, and verification
• Performs daily quality assurance (QA) on equipment prior to treatment; recognizes equipment malfunctions, troubleshoots, initiates appropriate corrective measures, and reports irregularities
• Enters and maintains patient treatment parameters in electronic medical records
• Maintains patient appointment schedule and ensures proper charge capture for treatments
• Performs conventional and computed tomography (CT) simulation in preparation for patient treatment; cuts blocks, makes custom immobilization, and completes monitor unit (MU) calculations in absence of Dosimetrist or Physicist
• Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and assesses data reflective of the patient's status to interpret age-specific needs and provide appropriate care as described in departmental policies and procedures

Skills

• Knowledge of treatment planning and treatment techniques
• Knowledge of record and verify system, radiation oncology equipment, and electronic medical record systems
• Ability to learn and apply complex radiation therapy principles
• Ability to adapt to various instrumentation and adjusting techniques
• Competent with general radiation equipment
• Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of electronic health records
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and their families
• Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
