Principle Responsibilities
- Treat patients with cancer or other disease processes by applying radiation treatments in accordance with the radiation oncologist's prescription.
- Operate the treatment machine to deliver the prescribed dose and perform simulations to plan treatment fields.
- Document treatment fields and set up procedures accurately.
- Prepare the treatment room according to the patient's prescription and maintain treatment records.
- Report any patient concerns or complications to the appropriate provider.
- Explain the procedure to the patient as necessary.
- Report any abnormalities in equipment operation to the physicist, CMS team, and document in the electronic tracking system.
- Create patient schedules and submit charges according to the services provided.
- Ensure safety by identifying risks, utilizing preventative measures, responding to emergencies, and instructing radiation therapy students.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age with the education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Must have 2 to 5 years of experience in radiation therapy.
- A Registered Technologist - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification is required upon hire.
- A certification in radiation therapy technology from an accredited institution is required.
- Must meet at least one of the following requirements: current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, current BLS certification from the American Red Cross, or Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire.
- Physical demands include lifting up to 32 lbs occasionally and up to 25 lbs frequently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in multiple radiation therapies.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Allina in-house training.
Safety
- Identify risks to self and others and utilize preventative measures or take corrective action.
- Recognize and respond to environmental emergencies.
- Instruct radiation therapy students in all aspects of clinical training.
Physical Demands
- Medium Work: Lifting up to 32 lbs occasionally, up to 25 lbs frequently.
Pay Range
Pay Range: $37.04 to $50.77 per hour.
