Responsibilities
- Administers prescribed radiation therapy treatments safely, accurately, and efficiently in strict compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Performs precise clinical simulations and patient positioning, utilizing custom immobilization devices to ensure accurate reproduction of treatment setups.
- Executes advanced patient imaging protocols utilizing MV, KV, and CBCT imaging systems to verify treatment alignment.
- Utilizes AlignRT surface guidance technology proficiently to monitor patient positioning and ensure real-time tracking accuracy.
- Demonstrates technical proficiency in operating the Linear Accelerator, CT Simulator, and all related oncological equipment.
- Verifies treatment plan calculations, prescriptions, and simulation parameters thoroughly prior to initiating any radiation delivery.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and legally compliant electronic therapy records for every patient throughout their treatment course.
- Schedules patient appointments strategically to optimize departmental workflow, reduce wait times, and facilitate timely patient flow.
- Participates actively in daily chart rounds and departmental performance improvement initiatives to elevate quality of care.
- Collaborates flexibly with physicians, dosimetrists, and physics staff to coordinate workflows and resolve clinical discrepancies rapidly.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved Radiation Therapy Technology Program is required; a Bachelor's Degree is highly preferred.
- Registered Radiation Therapist credential from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
- Active and valid Radiation Therapist license from the State of New Jersey is required and must be maintained.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience as a practicing Radiation Therapist is preferred.
- Strong time-management skills and the flexibility to adapt to changing departmental needs and support fellow staff members.
