General Duties
- Administers proper and responsible radiation to patients for radiation therapy.
- Maintains regular monitoring of patient conditions during treatment to detect abnormalities.
- Aids the radiation oncologist in identifying tumor locations.
- Performs simulations and treatments as prescribed by the radiation oncologist.
- Carries out basic dose calculations as requested by the radiation oncologist.
- Records all treatments on the patient’s chart.
- Performs daily equipment warm-ups, documenting any malfunctions and notifying the physicist.
- Maintains cleanliness of patient care areas.
- Completes and accurately documents safety inspections of equipment and rooms as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Verifies the availability of equipment and supplies in treatment rooms to prevent delays.
- Ensures compliance with safety protocols and maintains a clean environment.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience with radiation therapy equipment, including Varian, GE, and TOMO.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
- Radiography Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Qualifications
- Required: Radiation Therapy Certification.
- Prioritization of education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience operating CT and linear accelerators.
- Experience with Philips CT and Varian linear accelerators.
Reporting Relationships
No formal supervision of employees.
