$30,000 sign-on bonus for applicants who have zero seniority at CMH and meet all other conditions. About the role

The radiation therapist provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist according to established practices and standards. Duties include reviewing prescription and diagnosis, acting as liaison with physician and supportive care personnel, preparing equipment (such as immobilization, treatment, and protection devices), and maintaining records, reports, and files.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the prescribed dose of radiation to the correct patient in the correct area.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the operations and use of assigned equipment, including accessories.
  • Record necessary information in the electronic chart accurately, including imaging, instructions, and notations.
  • Perform additional radiation therapy services as required.

Requirements

  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) and Oregon State Licensure required.
  • Radiation Technologist Therapy certification required; CT certification preferred.
  • BLS certification required at time of hire and must be maintained continuously.
  • Graduation from an accredited training program recognized by the ARRT.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Radiologic Technology with a certificate in Radiation Therapy.
  • At least one year of post-graduation experience in the field preferred.
  • Experience with Elekta, Mosaiq, and Philips CT equipment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Diagnostic CT with demonstrable ability to perform procedures competently and independently preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Exposure to human tissues/fluids.
  • Wears a film badge and is monitored for radiation exposure.
  • Exposure to hazardous substances, including bismuth, lead, tin, and cadmium.
  • May require frequent shift changes based on patient load or treatment machine needs.
  • Must be able to lift, move, and assist patients to the treatment couch.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted and 50 pounds assisted.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Operates Linear accelerators for patient treatment with therapeutic radiation.
  • Uses hand tools in the block-making process.
