Radiation Oncology Veterinary Doctor Coordinator

About the role

We are seeking a Radiation Oncology Doctor Coordinator to support our Radiation Oncology team. This role requires critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a strong team environment. You will drive the MedVet experience by ensuring excellent patient care and compassion while developing strong client and patient relationships, particularly for cases requiring daily treatments.

Responsibilities

• Directly support specific doctor(s) for a given shift; may support different doctors within a department at different times.
• Ensure follow-through of departmental workflow for the supported doctor(s).
• Collaborate on scheduling consults, transfers, and diagnostics.
• Delegate team responsibilities as appropriate (e.g., rounding cases, planning and managing diagnostic scheduling and information).
• Act as the point of contact for referral partner transfers/inquiries if the doctor is unavailable.
• Provide departmental client communication for cases (e.g., concerns, care plan discussions, Q&A in the absence of the doctor).
• Draft medical record documentation for supported doctor(s), including initial patient history, vital statistics, treatment orders, referral letters, and discharge/dismissal letters for doctor review.
• Monitor emails and voicemails for doctor(s).
• Assist with and ensure completion of outpatient procedures as required by doctor(s) (e.g., bandage changes, post-operative radiographs, diagnostic samples, medication administration).
• May escort outpatient clients to and from exam rooms and prepare/maintain exam rooms.
• May act as a mentor or trainer for team members.
• Coordinate and delegate prescription refills to team members.

Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience required; previous emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (e.g., drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Schedule

5-day work week, with proposed shifts of 7:30 AM–3:30 PM or 8:00 AM–4:00 PM.
