Job Summary

Join our dynamic healthcare team in Pueblo, CO, as a Radiation Oncologist with CommonSpirit Mountain Region. Play a pivotal role in diagnosing and treating cancer and other diseases using targeted ionizing radiation. Provide compassionate and expert care, conduct thorough assessments, design and implement precise radiation plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support the holistic well-being of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Design precise radiation treatment plans using state-of-the-art technology, including Varian Linac and HDR units, 4D CT sim, Aria/Eclipse, and advanced SRS/SBRT techniques.
  • Conduct initial patient consultations, effectively explain therapy options, monitor ongoing progress, and manage physical or emotional side effects throughout the treatment cycle.
  • Lead and direct a multidisciplinary clinical team, including medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and oncology nurses, ensuring the highest standards of treatment precision and patient safety.
  • Partner and collaborate with surgical and medical oncologists to seamlessly integrate radiation therapy into comprehensive, evidence-based cancer care plans.
  • Participate in routine peer review sessions with a cohesive group of 11 Radiation Oncologists across 7 centers in Colorado, fostering a collaborative and supportive clinical environment.
  • Maintain patients post-treatment to check for recurrence and evaluate the long-term success and efficacy of the radiation therapy.
  • Contribute to the growth and enhancement of CommonSpirit Mountain Region’s comprehensive cancer program, supported by leadership committed to physician and staff development.

Required Job Requirements

  • Successfully completed a residency or fellowship commensurate with area of specialty.
  • Obtain and maintain an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (“DEA”) registration.
  • Board certified or eligible in the appropriate specialty, by a board acceptable to Hospital.
  • Obtain Medical Staff Privileges within the Health system, at sponsoring institution.
  • Doctorate MD or DO required.
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in applicable state required.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Varian Linac, HDR unit, 4D CT sim, Aria/Eclipse planning system, SRS/SBRT.
  • Experience in an integrated system with multidisciplinary support teams.
