Radiation Oncologist (Main Campus)

Academic Staff position in the Department of Radiation Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. This is a clinical health sciences-track (non-tenure) faculty role at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, with a practice centered at the main campus. Areas of focus may include palliative radiation medicine (malignant and benign diseases), breast cancer, genitourinary malignancies, and/or tumors of the central nervous system. The position is available at 80%-100% FTE.

The Department of Human Oncology (DHO) at the University of Wisconsin is dedicated to advancing the field of radiation oncology through excellence in education, research, and patient care. The department is committed to training the next generation of leaders—including radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapy professionals—while conducting innovative research that drives progress in cancer treatment. The team is equally devoted to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to individuals affected by cancer.

Responsibilities

• Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health, working collegially with other faculty members.
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Engage in academic activities such as clinical and translational research and mentorship of residents and students, with protected time and support provided.

Requirements

• Completion of residency training in Radiation Oncology.
• Board certification in Radiation Oncology (or expected within 2 years of hiring).
• MD with State Physician Licensure; must be able to obtain licensure in Wisconsin without restriction.

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-residency clinical experience is valuable but not mandatory.
• For appointments at the Associate Professor or Professor rank on the CHS Track, candidates must meet criteria established by the department and outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment.

Required terminal degree: M.D. or M.D./Ph.D.
