Radiation Oncologist
About the role
At OSF HealthCare, a new Radiation Oncology program is being launched in Galesburg, IL, with direct outreach and connection to the brand‑new Cancer Institute in Peoria, IL (about 40 minutes away). The role offers the opportunity to work alongside leaders such as Dr. Robert McWilliams, Dr. James McGee and Dr. Jun Zhang, and to be a pioneer in establishing and growing the program. You will join a strong oncology team that includes surgery and medical oncology providers committed to comprehensive, patient‑centered care, benefit from an established primary‑care network, and collaborate with a team of eight Radiation Oncologists across OSF sites. The position utilizes the Varian Halcyon Linear Accelerator and a fully integrated EPIC electronic health record system, and regularly sees daily treatment volumes exceeding 30 patients, making the Galesburg linear accelerator one of the busiest in the OSF Ministry.
Beyond the clinical work, the role provides the stability and support of a nationally recognized, mission‑based health system, opportunities for professional growth within a connected oncology network, and the chance to combine clinical expertise with program development and leadership. Galesburg offers a high quality of life with a lower cost of living, strong school systems, higher education choices, access to the Mississippi River valley, parks, historic sites, festivals, and convenient Amtrak and Interstate 74 access to Peoria and the Quad Cities.
