About the role

Promote and maintain excellent customer service with patrons and employees. Greet guests, assist them to ensure satisfaction, and encourage their return. Provide security on assigned posts, handle problem situations, watch for safety hazards, and assist in medical emergencies. Patrol buildings and grounds, oversee guest and livestock safety, and provide special assistance to disabled patrons. Dispatch officers, maintain activity logs, and write detailed incident reports. Ensure compliance with regulatory, internal control, and company policies. Stay informed about special events and promotions, and represent the company professionally at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain excellent customer service with patrons and employees.
  • Greet guests and assist them to ensure their satisfaction and return.
  • Provide security on assigned posts: maintain high visibility, handle problem situations, watch for safety hazards, and assist in medical emergencies.
  • Patrol buildings and grounds of the facility as directed.
  • Oversee the comfort, safety, and security of guests and livestock from assigned security posts.
  • Provide assistance to patrons: give directions, call cabs, assist with car trouble, and offer special assistance to disabled patrons.
  • Dispatch other officers to various assignments and maintain activity log sheets.
  • Write detailed reports for incidents involving law violations or company policy violations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, internal control, and company policies and procedures.
  • Stay knowledgeable about special events and promotional activities available to guests.
  • Demonstrate ethical and cooperative behavior with guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Work well under pressure and meet multiple, competing deadlines.
  • Adhere to all department and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other related and compatible duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must qualify for licensing with the New Mexico Racing Commission.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • One to three months of previous security or customer service experience preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills; must be fluent and literate in English.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and employee relations skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions in stressful situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and promote cooperation between departments.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Multilingual skills preferred.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Requires close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Must regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance in varying work areas, including confined spaces.

Work Environment

  • Able to perform duties in all weather conditions.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels.
  • Exposure to an environment containing unrestricted secondhand tobacco smoke.

Pay

Starting salary: $20.00 per hour.
