About the role

Do you want to help solve problems that drive success in the rapidly evolving technology and connectivity landscape? At Qnity, we’re a global leader in materials and solutions for advanced electronics and high-tech industries. We value forward-thinking challengers, boundary-pushers, and diverse perspectives across all departments, as we play a critical role in enabling faster progress for all.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced test methods to evaluate the thermal, mechanical, electrical, rheological, and reliability performance of Thermal Interface Materials (TIMs).
  • Establish, optimize, and validate test protocols using equipment such as TIM testers, thermal test vehicles, thermal analyzers, mechanical compression systems, rheometers, and environmental chambers.
  • Develop and implement automated test sequences and instrument interfaces to improve testing throughput, repeatability, and data integrity.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to extract key performance metrics and establish statistical confidence in results.
  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), engineering reports, and test specifications.
  • Present findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams, R&D leadership, and customer engineering groups.
  • Partner with materials scientists, design engineers, and product managers to support material formulation and product development decisions.
  • Support customer validation testing and application-specific performance evaluations.
  • Train laboratory technicians and global test teams on new test methods, equipment, and best practices.
  • Ensure all test methods and procedures comply with industry standards (ASTM, JEDEC, ISO) and internal quality management systems.
  • Drive continuous improvements in safety, data integrity, and test equipment reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree, in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in Thermal/Electrical/Mechanical testing, preferably involving TIMs, polymers, adhesives, or electronic packaging materials.
  • Experience with thermal test systems, mechanical test equipment, and environmental or reliability testing.
  • Strong foundation in heat transfer, solid mechanics, and materials behavior.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools such as Python, MATLAB, Minitab, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automated test control systems and laboratory instrumentation (e.g., LabVIEW, PLCs).
  • Familiarity with semiconductor packaging, power electronics cooling, or thermal management systems.
  • Experience developing custom test platforms, fixtures, or novel test methods.
  • Knowledge of rheology, viscoelastic materials, and polymer mechanics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and cross-functional initiatives.

Skills

  • Strong experimental design and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technical communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across global teams.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
