R&D Laboratory Chemist

Location: York, Pennsylvania | Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Laboratory Chemist / Lead Formulator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and optimizing products that meet specific performance criteria. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production and quality control, to ensure formulations can be scaled up effectively while maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development projects to innovate and improve products
• Lead the implementation of good laboratory practices to ensure compliance and safety
• Analyze experimental results and propose actionable improvements
• Provide technical support to the R&D, Quality Control (QC), and Sales departments
• Conduct testing on raw materials and finished products
• Assist in the development and formulation of Thermoplastic coatings and Specialty Materials
• Collect, record, and analyze data to support product development and quality assurance
• Work closely with R&D Technicians, Quality Assurance, and production teams
• Maintain a clean and safe lab environment

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
• 3–5 years of laboratory experience, preferably in R&D
• Previous experience in coatings, adhesives, or polymer manufacturing is an asset
• Good to excellent color perception and olfactory sensory for accuracy and adjustments
• Experience with ERP systems is an asset
• Physical ability to perform testing and laboratory tasks, including lifting and handling materials
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex procedures accurately
