Responsibilities
- Operate pilot-scale prepreg manufacturing lines in an R&D environment to produce next-generation lightweight composites for aerospace customers.
- Support pilot production schedule attainment by autonomously procuring raw materials, collaborating with support teams to minimize equipment downtime, and troubleshooting processes to produce quality material.
- Assist staff scientists with bench-scale research work, including resin mixing, composite panel layup, microscope imaging, and lab analysis techniques.
- Create and maintain project documentation such as timelines, communications, and reports, and share project results through presentations with internal teams.
- Train to established equipment standard operating procedures and update procedures as needed.
- Maintain the work area and manufacturing equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
Requirements
- High School degree or equivalent.
- At least three years of experience in a manufacturing environment; composite experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve equipment and processes and learn new procedures.
- Ability to understand engineering requirements, safety requirements, standard operating procedures, and maintenance instructions.
- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and team collaboration software (Microsoft Teams, SharePoint).
- Strong teamwork skills with dedication, integrity, initiative, and self-motivation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel in both written and oral forms and follow written/oral instructions.
- Basic math skills, including algebraic data manipulation, unit conversion, and understanding of statistical principles (mean, median, mode, standard deviation, confidence intervals).
- Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, temporary resident, refugee, or asylee.
