We are seeking a dedicated R&D Lab Technician to join a dynamic team in the cosmetic and personal care product industry. This role focuses on supporting product development and laboratory operations. The position is initially intended to cover a leave of absence but may evolve into a longer-term opportunity for the right candidate.

About the role

The work environment requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed and to stand, walk, and work in a laboratory setting throughout the day. The role involves working with fragrances, cosmetic ingredients, and standard laboratory chemicals, while adhering to appropriate PPE guidelines.

This is a fully onsite, contract position based in Chatsworth, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute laboratory batches according to established formulas and procedures.
  • Assist R&D Scientists and Formulators with product development projects.
  • Accurately weigh, measure, and mix raw materials for cosmetic formulations.
  • Support compounding activities including creams, lotions, serums, shampoos, and other personal care products.
  • Maintain detailed records of formulations, batch data, observations, and test results.
  • Label, organize, and maintain samples for stability testing and customer evaluations.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory equipment, tools, and workspaces.
  • Assist with raw material inventory management and organization.
  • Follow GMP, safety, and quality procedures at all times.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Production, and R&D teams to support product development and manufacturing initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and accurately document work
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Comfortable performing repetitive laboratory tasks and standing for extended periods
  • Previous experience in a laboratory, cosmetic manufacturing, food manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, or related environment
  • Hands-on compounding or batch-making experience
  • Experience weighing and mixing raw materials
  • Familiarity with cosmetic or personal care products
  • Knowledge of GMP environments and laboratory best practices

Pay

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour.
