R&D- Associate Chemist

Responsibilities

• Comply with ISO 17025 practices and apply them to Testing & Certification group activities.
• Independently lead multiple projects or urgent requests requiring high levels of testing accuracy and attention to detail.
• Generate test data and reports for project submitters.
• Communicate timelines and meet deadlines effectively.
• Manage moderately complex projects or those involving new tests or specification testing.
• Support or lead quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Ensure proper maintenance and training of test equipment and supplies.
• Support troubleshooting and root cause investigations to identify and resolve issues.
• Develop a general understanding of equipment processes and test methods.
• Communicate effectively with internal customers (R&D chemists, sales, marketing) and external vendors.
• Mentor, train, or serve as a resource for other team members as needed.
• Support management in maintaining the overall budget and provide recommendations for new equipment purchases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Experience operating a variety of laboratory equipment.
• Basic understanding of ISO 9001 or ISO 17025 requirements.
• Familiarity with ASTM test methods and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

About the Role

The incumbent will report to the Testing and Certification R&D Senior Group Leader and will be responsible for coordinating multiple projects simultaneously. This position involves contact with other employees and access to confidential and proprietary information, which may be supervised or unsupervised. The role requires compliance with ISO 17025 practices and adherence to departmental and company policies.

The position is not hybrid and is located at the Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center in Brecksville, OH. The role also involves travel up to 10%.

Compensation decisions are based on the facts and circumstances of each case and may vary within the stated wage range. The wage range listed does not take into account the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
