Quilter or blanket maker

About the Role

Project Linus Canada is a registered Canadian charity whose mission is to make and give new, handmade blankets to local children and youth who are in need of comfort due to trauma caused by serious illness, abuse, grief, or a traumatic event. The Winnipeg chapter collects new handmade blankets from volunteers and distributes them to partner organizations such as Toba Centre, Spence Neighbourhood Association, and Ode'min (Birthing Centre). Over 500 blankets are donated annually to local children and youth.

Responsibilities

• Create new, handmade blankets for donation (knitted, crocheted, or quilted).

Requirements

• Blanket-making skills (knitting, crocheting, or quilting).
• Blankets must be new and handmade.
• Volunteers may use their own supplies or request fabric/yarn from the organization (donated materials available).

Eligibility

• Open to individuals aged 16 and up.
• Available for small groups, families, friends, large groups, corporate teams, and schools.
• No criminal record check or child abuse registry check required.

Schedule

• Remote volunteering with flexible hours.
• Blankets are accepted year-round; time commitment depends on how long it takes to complete a blanket.
