PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PATTERN MAKER A Furniture Product Development Pattern Maker bridges the gap between design and manufacturing, transforming conceptual sketches and prototypes into precise, functional, and production-ready templates. They ensure new furniture designs are durable, cost-effective, and optimized for mass manufacturing. This position is based at our Upholstery headquarters in Newton, NC. Responsibilities Prototype Development: Work closely with designers and product developers to build and modify physical mock-up sample frames for New Product Development.Pattern Creation: Develop highly accurate cutting patterns (fabric, leather, or poly) for upholstered furniture, ensuring a perfect fit for various cushion sizes and shapes. Digital & Software Operations: Digitize patterns and generate optimized cut markers (using software like Lectra or Morgan) to minimize material waste and improve fabric utilization. Documentation: Create and manage style numbers, part codes, and detailed specification (spec) sheets detailing the exact materials needed (springs, webbing, poly).Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting: Evaluate test samples for structural integrity and comfort, tweaking and adjusting patterns to make them production-friendly. Manufacturing Handoff: Train sewing, cutting, and upholstery associates on how to build and assemble new styles going into production.
