About the role
We are looking for a dependable and hardworking Quick Lube Oil Change Technician to join our service team. This entry-level role focuses on performing essential maintenance services for retail and internal customers' vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Perform oil changes and routine maintenance efficiently and accurately
- Inspect vehicles and report any issues to the manager
- Keep customer vehicles clean (vacuum and clean windshields)
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace
- Provide excellent service with honesty and care
- Conduct all business with sincerity, honesty, and genuine concern for customers
- Stay within the estimates provided to the customer
- Inspect every repair order and vehicle for proper job completion
- Advise the Manager of any repairs or services needed
- Notify the Service Manager of any situation jeopardizing safety, welfare, or dealership integrity
- Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, adhering to dealership and factory standards
- Sell lubrication, safety inspections, and related services
- Drain oil from crankcase and refill with required amount of oil
- Replace oil and air filters
- Inspect vehicle fluid levels, replace or replenish as necessary
- Check tire pressure and add air if needed
- Lubricate moving parts with specified lubricants
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor
- Ensure customers' cars are kept clean
- Notify service advisor immediately of any changes to the vehicle's appearance or condition
- Keep shop area neat and clean
- Maintain and account for all dealership-owned tools and manuals
- Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know)
- Operate all tools and equipment safely
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs as assigned by the service manager
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License
- Strong attention to detail and pride in work
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Previous dealership or quick lube experience required
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using units of American money, weight, volume, and distance)
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional or no variables
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear, and taste or smell
- Occasionally required to climb or balance
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and vibration
- Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
- Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud
