Quarry Supervisor

Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Cement Quarry Supervisor to join our team in Troutville, VA. This salary exempt position will work a rotating shift schedule and report to the Quarry Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe workplace is maintained, based on company policies and MSHA guidelines.
• Make certain quarry operations remains in compliance with all applicable environmental standards during their shift.
• Supervise department; including but not limited to employee scheduling, record keeping, employee training and the coordination of production activities.
• Ensure that all products processed meet or exceed the customers’ expectations surrounding quality and service.
• Execute mining plans to meet the necessary chemistry requirements for the mix rock stack, in compliance with the direction of our on-site laboratory.
• Develop and implement standard work procedures driving safety, quality and productivity.
• Work with the mobile repair staff to maximize the operating efficiency of the fleet through schedule maintenance and life cycle analysis.
• Troubleshoot and drive the Root Cause Analysis process in area of responsibility. Promote continuous improvement.
• Participate in new improvement project teams; from conception to commissioning.
• Prepare and ensure accuracy of paperwork to document daily business.
• Ensure that all reporting staff is working efficiently and consistently with company policies, guidelines and the collective bargaining agreement.
• Maintain good relationships with all internal and external contacts.

Qualifications

• Current DMME surface foreman certification is a requirement for this position.
• A high school diploma or equivalent required. A college degree preferred.
• 5+ years prior mining and/or quarry experience is required.
• Previous experience in leading personnel and managing teams preferred.
• Basic math and computer skills required.
• Candidate must have good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Candidate must be self-motivated with a strong ability to work independently.
• Candidate must possess an attitude of continuous improvement.
