Quant Strategist (Corporate Treasury) - Vice President

About the role

We're seeking someone to join our Quantitative Strategist (Strats) team as a Vice President in Treasury to develop, maintain and operate Treasury related models. In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm's financial and capital resources.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm
  • Responsible and lead a significant set of deliverables, leveraging advanced understanding of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment
  • Proactively identify emerging risks in individual and department work and contribute to strategies for mitigating them
  • Act as a role model and culture carrier; Embody and set an example of the Firm's values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standards
  • Developing and supporting P&L, Risk, Net Interest Income (NII), Liquidity models, hedge accounting, funds transfer pricing and Monitoring tools
  • Working closely with the Business, IT, and model control

Requirements

  • Advanced understanding of Treasury, industry, and competitive environment and technical skills, including risks and key regulations relevant to the division
  • Ability to provide positive and constructive feedback and acknowledge efforts of team members
  • Ability to articulate risk and impact to various audiences, and create plans to mitigate those risks
  • PhD/Masters degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics or Physics preferred
  • Strong programming skills: At a minimum, this position requires programming in scala, KDB/Q, or C++.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills are necessary
  • At least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

Pay

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $165,000 and $225,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
