Quality Technician - Level II - SHOP 3rd shift

About the role

We are looking for a talented Quality Technician- Level II to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Inc. facility in Rocky Mount, NC. This role focuses on inspecting and monitoring product quality, identifying defects, and ensuring compliance with specifications through testing and measurement processes.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate documentation, supporting containment and disposition activities, operating and calibrating measurement equipment (including CMM), and assisting with quality investigations.

Responsibilities

• Support Engineers by assisting in production-related and inspection jobs to ensure smooth operations and maintain high-quality standards.
• Monitor material quality and make necessary adjustments to ensure final products meet required specifications.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records for tracking progress, ensuring compliance, and facilitating audits.
• Compare physical characteristics of components and products to technical specifications to identify and address defects early in the process.
• Conduct simple tests and prepare technical reports to provide valuable data for decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Use and program measurement equipment to ensure precise and reliable product testing.
• Assist customers in understanding product specifications and measurement data to build trust and ensure proper product application.
• Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of measurement and test equipment for consistent and accurate results.
• Apply quality tools and methods to ensure product and process quality, maintaining high standards and compliance.
• Determine root cause of failures by engaging with customers to understand issues thoroughly.
• Ensure timely communication of analysis reports and SCAR responses to customers.
• Collaborate with the Supplier Quality team to address supplier-related issues effectively.
• Monitor and report Material Non-Conformances (MNCs) and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) to reduce PPM (Parts Per Million) defects.
• Perform failsafe effectiveness checks on assembly lines.
• Contain defects on completed products both on-site and at customer locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
• Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.
• Strong attention to detail and knowledge of quality systems and metrology.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while supporting continuous improvement.
