About the role
The Lab Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality of Spartech's acrylic sheets through rigorous testing and inspection. This position ensures that all materials and products meet internal and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
- Operate laboratory testing equipment and computerized/electronic devices used in quality control and technical services.
- Perform routine calibration of laboratory instruments following documented procedures.
- Conduct inspections and testing on in-process and finished products.
- Record, analyze, and report test data with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Follow all documented testing and inspection procedures to ensure consistent product evaluation.
- Provide timely feedback to Quality Management regarding product quality issues or trends.
- Maintain compliance with all Safety, Health, and Environmental guidelines.
- Follow company operating procedures, policies, and benefit rules.
- Keep the laboratory and work area clean, organized, and audit-ready.
- Perform calibration processes on equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma; relevant college coursework preferred.
- 2+ years of laboratory or testing experience in a production or manufacturing environment (Experience in a chemical laboratory is preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with calibration equipment preferred.
Qualifications
- Comprehension of applicable testing methods, procedures, and requirements.
- Knowledge of ASTM test specifications and ability to comprehend specification requirements.
- Ability to operate lab equipment devices, and accurately record, analyze, and communicate results.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Skills
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) preferred.
