About the Role

The Quality Technician I is responsible for final inspection of FAA products to return to service, final inspection of OEM products, receiving inspection of purchased components, scanning and maintaining records, part marking, and in-process inspection. Supports calibration of inspection equipment, root-cause/corrective-action (RCCA) for warranties, continuous improvement, internal audits, and ensures products are processed to the highest quality.

Responsibilities

  • Acts proactively supporting safety at all times.
  • Inspects, tests, and evaluates products and production equipment.
  • Ensures products adhere to quality standards.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports data supporting continuous improvement.
  • Supports investigation of warranty returns and/or Customer Concerns (CCN) through RCCA.
  • Supports internal audit processes to FAA, other regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Performs return-to-service inspection, AS9102 FAI inspection, “Return As Is” and Scrap certifications, pressure and flow tests for customer products.
  • Performs in-process inspection.
  • Performs basic measurement using micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, and optical comparators.
  • Performs dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, bore gages, and height gages.
  • Calibrates company and personal tools for product inspection or testing.
  • Maintains Shelf-Life item control.
  • Interprets drawings, certifications, and military/industry specifications.
  • Scans material certifications and paperwork.
  • Creates rejection notices for non-conforming product.
  • Supports MRB activities, achieving optimal disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Recognizes and solves practical problems or issues.
  • Maintains production router, inspection, x-ray, and other records.
  • Communicates and interacts with coworkers to develop strong relationships.
  • Performs FPI and other nondestructive testing.
  • Performs part marking including: Chemical Etching, vibro-peening, and/or permanent inking.
  • Cross-trains in other Quality duties as necessary.
  • Ensures hazardous materials are properly labeled, stored, handled, and disposed of.
  • Performs work assignments as directed.

Requirements

  • 1 year of quality engineering experience.
  • High school diploma or a GED at a minimum.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and approved technical data.
  • Able to organize priorities, daily tasks, and completed actions on time in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to pass DOT/FAA drug screening.
  • Able to pass FAA required vision test.
  • Able to write, read, and speak English.
  • U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a US Passport.

Physical Demands

  • Light to moderate physical effort required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus (individual cannot be color blind).
  • Must meet a minimum of 20/30 with correction in one eye using the Snellen Eye Chart.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FPI Level II certification.
  • Technical Degree.
  • Proficient in Excel, including organizing and analyzing data with pivot tables.
  • Experience performing Final Inspection with return-to-service tags (FAA, CAAC, and JCAB).
  • Working knowledge of FAR regulations and their applications.
  • Strong technical background due to experience in different mechanical and technical fields.
  • Previous experience with airlines, MRO, and Repair Station operation companies.
  • Knowledge of Quantum ERP software.
  • Sound understanding of aircraft components with technical knowledge of rigid tube components and their operating systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
