Quality Technician
About the role
Located in our Brandon, SD plant, you will be a Quality Technician. This role involves inspection, testing, and process verification to meet customer specifications and quality objectives. Key responsibilities include acting as the primary liaison for customer return and warranty concerns, conducting in-process, final inspection, and testing at various production stages, ensuring product compliance with specifications and customer requirements, monitoring and driving quality goals, maintaining customer satisfaction, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, understanding and promoting customer-specific standards and specifications, preparing PPAP/FAI reports, utilizing inspection tools, performing raw material receiving inspections, identifying, controlling, and dispositioning non-conforming materials, issuing Quality Alerts, investigating issues, determining root causes, and completing 8D reports in eQIM, completing customer credit forms, and recommending improvements to existing quality standards, methods, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison for customer return and warranty concerns.
- Conduct in-process, final inspection, and testing at various production stages.
- Ensure product compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
- Maintain customer satisfaction for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate with corporate groups such as Technical Service, Product Control, Customer Order Service, Quality Management, and divisional leadership.
- Understand, promote, and adhere to customer-specific standards and specifications.
- Prepare PPAP/FAI reports through part measurement, inspection, and documentation in supplier portals.
- Utilize inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) and follow best measurement practices.
- Perform raw material receiving inspections per Quality Plans and Processing specifications.
- Identify, control, and disposition non-conforming materials.
- Issue Quality Alerts when necessary.
- Investigate issues, determine root causes, and complete 8D reports in eQIM.
- Complete customer credit forms and communicate resolutions as needed.
- Recommend improvements to existing quality standards, methods, and procedures.
Requirements
- Associate degree - preferred
- 1 year of quality experience preferred
- Knowledge of metal/tube manufacturing is beneficial but not required.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal) is required.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Experience with blueprint reading, process problem-solving, and error-proofing.
- Proficiency in basic reading, math, computer, and measurement skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting to 50 lbs.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
