About the role
The Dixon Group is seeking a Quality Technician to join their Dixon Specialty Products Division in Chestertown, MD. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in inspection, measurement, and metrology.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and approve incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods against engineering drawings and specifications.
- Perform product inspections daily using height gages, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.
- Document inspection results through reports, logs, and database entries, including rework and scrap tracking.
- Communicate nonconformances to affected parties and follow up for required adjustments.
- Issue Corrective Actions where appropriate based on internal guidelines.
- Maintain and manage all production gauges; performing in-house calibration where possible and coordinating third-party calibration when necessary.
- Verify proper operation of gauges; manage inspection and repair as required.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain SOPs for the Quality department, making revisions and updates as needed.
- Audit internal work procedures and make recommendations to address non-conformances.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality systems and reduce rework.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in STEM or related coursework preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in a quality, inspection, engineering or manufacturing role is preferred.
- Some experience in reading blueprints and using measurement tools is required.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges and thread gauges.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, blueprints, and industry specifications such as ANSI, ASTM, API and 3A.
- Familiarity with quality documentation, reporting, and data entry.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and communication skills.

Pay
$19 - $24 per hour.
Schedule
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
