About the role
Develop and implement quality programs, manage the RMA process, conduct product evaluations, apply problem solving tools, and provide technical support.
Responsibilities
- Implement quality programs, track, analyze, and report on program effectiveness.
- Manage RMA process from issuance to closure, including evaluation of parts, creation of Corrective Action Reports (8D), and communication with customers.
- Perform hands-on product evaluations, root cause analysis, repairs, and functional testing for customer returns.
- Apply problem-solving tools like 5-Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC, etc., to identify and implement corrective actions.
- Use appropriate standard quantitative methods to analyze data and facilitate process improvements.
- Ensure product and process quality in accordance with quality principles and standards, including planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling, and measurement systems.
- Provide technical support to Quality, Production, Engineering, and Sales departments.
- Measure products using appropriate methods and equipment.
- Ensure data integrity on Barksdale’s gage management system (xTrak) and allocate work for gage calibration.
- Complete internal and external gage calibrations, including sourcing, planning, scheduling, and executing calibrations.
- Perform quality reviews, generate Certificates of Compliance, and assist with supplier and customer quality activities.
- Participate in New Product Development (APQP) projects, including Quality validation using DVP&R and advanced statistical methods.
- Drive continuous improvement through participation in Kaizen events and projects.
- Affirmatively assist with the execution of Core Tools (DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP) and PCR/PCO reviews.
- Affirmatively assist with PPAP submissions, including reviewing and approving Part Submission Warranties (PSWs).
- Affirmatively assist with the creation of Quality procedures, forms, reports, etc.
- Affirmatively evaluate prototype products, perform qualification tests, and prepare reports prior to releasing new products.
- Affirmatively perform Process and Product Audits in various Production cells.
- Provide general assistance on any quality-related activity.
Qualifications
- AS degree in Technical discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality.
- Formal Six Sigma training preferred.
- Experience with electronics.
- Basic inspection and testing techniques.
- Quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction, supplier relations and performance, leadership, training, interpersonal relationships, improvement systems, and professional ethics.
- Quality management systems and their development, documentation, and implementation with respect to domestic and international regulatory standards or requirements.
- Quality concepts and methods such as FMEA, SPC, MSA, Lean Manufacturing, CAPA, Six Sigma, 5S, etc.
- Basic statistical concepts (FPY, rate, %, average, std deviation, etc.).
- Ability to make decisions using risk-based thinking and data-driven analytical thinking.
- Interpretation of engineering drawings, test procedures, work orders, BOMs, written procedures, international standards, etc.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T.
- Strong teamwork and support for department and company members.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written).
- Strong organizational and coordination abilities, including assembling, coordinating, scheduling, and executing interdepartmental activities.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively based on business needs.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze, interpret, and report on data in Microsoft Excel.
- Physical ability to perform hands-on work and stand/move parts.
- Maintain 5S in work areas and follow all safety rules.
- Flexible to travel (domestically and internationally) and work overtime as required.
