About the role

Air Techniques, Inc., founded in 1962, manufactures high-quality products for the dental industry. Based in New York, the company designs and builds utility room and digital imaging products in a vertically integrated factory that adheres to FDA Good Manufacturing Practices and Quality Standards. The company maintains ISO-13485 registration certification, emphasizing quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on production and customer returned units to assess defects and failures.
  • Identify recurring issues and escalate complex failures to the Product Quality Manager.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Procurement teams to communicate findings and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Operate and maintain measuring and test equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM, gauges, torque tools, etc.).
  • Review and inspect Device History Records to ensure document accuracy and propose release of products for distribution.
  • Assist in developing or revising repair procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in Lean or continuous improvement initiatives to reduce turnaround time and defects.
  • Perform Internal Quality Systems Audits.
  • Ensure compliance with department procedures.
  • Analyze and interact with areas related to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as First-Pass-Yield, defect/complaint trends, audit findings, CAPA effectiveness evaluations, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a quality, manufacturing, or product inspection role.
  • Prior experience with RMA processes and root cause analysis methodologies strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM).
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems for logging and tracking (experience with Epicor or similar a plus).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • An analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills, able to analyze data and build complex reports and graphics.
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, 13485, or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to use hand tools.

Education Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Quality Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline required.
