Quality Technician - 1st shift

Responsibilities

  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or standards to inspect or test product throughout the manufacturing processes to determine conformance to dimensional, attribute, performance, mechanical, or chemical requirements.
  • Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures where applicable.
  • Documents reports to validate or identify details for deviations from existing standards.
  • Supports calibration of tools and gauges as required.
  • Operates various types of measurement equipment (e.g., coordinate measuring machines, profilometer, hardness tester, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, protractors) to evaluate product conformance.
  • Coordinates activities related to Material Review Board (MRB) or supports as directed.
  • Supports containment and/or sorting activities for external or internal sorts as directed by quality department leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in manufacturing or engineering.

Skills

  • Proficiency with quality inspection tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to the necessary degree.
  • Ability to determine product status based on test and inspection results.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints as applicable to the manufacturing of metals.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Some physical demand; occasionally lifts light to medium-weight material.
  • Frequent lifting/moving of average weight (up to 25 lbs/11 kgs) material.
  • Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
  • May be exposed to noise levels requiring hearing protection over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
