Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in warehouse or production areas (e.g., hairnets, beard nets, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard-toe shoes, gloves, seatbelts on forklifts).
  • Ensure compliance with food quality and food safety standards as per corporate, customer, and governing bodies (e.g., SQF).
  • Verify all products conform to customer specifications as outlined in the SAP system.
  • Perform analysis on raw materials, finished batches, treated water, and other programmed outlines by the department.
  • Conduct chemical and physical analysis on raw, intermediate, and packaging materials to determine acceptability.
  • Evaluate finished products against current standards through audits to monitor product and packaging integrity.
  • Check process control parameters (e.g., secure seal, closure torque, can seam checks) to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Stop production if food safety is questionable and immediately alert management.
  • Maintain accurate, legible records of all tests and retests; complete required reports (work orders, action reports) in a timely manner.
  • Perform analytical tests to qualify ingredient batches for production and conduct line checks at specified intervals.
  • Ensure proper operation and calibration of laboratory equipment; maintain laboratory cleanliness.
  • Report all out-of-specification results to designated leadership.
  • Complete special projects and other reasonable duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Quality within a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • In plants co-packaging alcoholic beverages, must be at least 21 years old.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and SAP preferred.
  • Experience using measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM machines).
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change.
  • High precision and accuracy in inspection and testing processes.
  • Familiarity with SQF, SAP, Six Sigma, GMP, and other relevant standards.
  • Understanding of food safety requirements.
  • Able to read and understand the metric system.
  • Food or beverage laboratory experience preferred.

Working Conditions

Operating in a fast-paced production plant with moving parts. Noise levels require hearing protection, and temperatures can vary (laboratory is temperature-controlled). The environment is structured and supervised.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs (minimum 5 lbs), and carrying weight.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Rare climbing (stairs/ladders) or balancing.
  • Visual/sensory attention to detail, often requiring focus on one or two senses at a time.
  • Pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy, or similar demands.

Schedule

Weekdays, weekends, afternoons, evenings, and overnights may be required. Overtime scheduled as needed. Shift: 3rd (non-exempt status).

Pay

Pay Range: $20.50 – $25.50 per hour (depending on education and experience), plus eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
