About the Role

The Quality Supervisor organizes and schedules the daily activities of In-process and Final Inspectors, ensuring customer and OFS specifications are met and cable testing is prioritized by customer ship date. This role assigns corrective actions and final dispositions for open hold tags, provides technical support to resolve quality issues, and leads the Quality Team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model for safe work practices and behaviors, including following health and safety policies, maintaining a clean work area, and wearing proper PPE.
  • Lead and direct the day-to-day activities of Quality Team Members, organizing workflow and scheduling.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and standards for inspecting, testing, and evaluating product precision, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Make recommendations for corrective actions to ensure conformity with quality specifications.
  • Ensure finished products meet customer and company standards, including good manufacturing practices regulations.
  • Monitor work group activities, troubleshoot problems, and review testing procedures, data, and documentation.
  • Assist with testing procedures, setup, and training as needed.
  • Gather and analyze data to support product areas.
  • Conduct staff and employee meetings, administer company policy, and address disciplinary actions.
  • Investigate and respond to customer complaints.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports, audits, and documentation.
  • Review cable orders and raw materials ready for testing, schedule work, and assign tasks based on priorities.
  • Prepare and review safety reports, time and attendance reports, vacation requests, output reports, and procedure changes.
  • Analyze quality problems cited on hold/stop tags and follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Interview job applicants for open quality inspector positions.
  • Work with Human Resources to implement and administer the Quality Department Training and Certification program.
  • Prepare and submit weekly time and attendance reports and maintain employee attendance records.
  • Review employee job performance and administer disciplinary action as required.
  • Schedule staffing to maintain adequate coverage.
  • Foster an atmosphere of teamwork and ownership, helping associates develop skills to meet business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline.
  • 2–4 years of quality experience or related area.
  • 5–7 years of manufacturing experience, with a strong emphasis on Quality Management.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience in a leadership role, leading and developing people.
  • Previous manufacturing experience at the supervisory or management level.
  • Ability to motivate, influence, and train/develop people.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, motivational, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet company objectives.
  • Experience working with multicultural personnel with diverse backgrounds and education.
  • Ability to control costs without sacrificing quality, safety, or service.
  • Ability to train and delegate team members to cover all assignments.
  • Availability to address critical items in a timely manner (24/7).
  • Awareness of team members' needs to better motivate them.
  • Strong communication with all support operations and upper management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in Fiber Cable Manufacturing.
  • Strong background in managing labor, materials, and cost.
  • Knowledge of Hoshin Kanri, SGA’s, and LEAN Six Sigma principles.
