The Quality Supervisor will have a positive impact on the Operations team at our Cleburne, TX location.
Responsibilities
- Provide strong leadership in all Covia safety program policies and initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulatory requirements and Covia policies.
- Direct employees in mineral processing activities, including:
- Dredging, washing, and tailings
- Drying, screening, loading
- Product shipment and inventory levels
- Bagging
- Coordinate and direct hourly employees to achieve plant KPIs, production requirements, and quality control parameters, including scheduling shifts and overtime.
- Maintain acceptable labor and employee relations, provide feedback, administer policies, and handle discipline matters in collaboration with the Operations and Plant Managers.
- Review and recommend training for hourly employees to improve plant operations.
- Initiate corrective actions to maintain and improve plant efficiencies.
- Update the Operations Manager on issues affecting safe, timely, and efficient production (e.g., personnel, equipment, transportation, quality, raw materials).
- Collect, verify, and submit labor and operating data for required reports.
- Utilize the ERP system for purchase requisitions, maintenance work orders, and production records.
- Assist in developing and constructing capital improvement projects and engineering changes.
- Ensure plant work standards, policies, procedures, and plans are maintained at the highest levels.
- Monitor plant-specific quality control policies and procedures for adequacy and effectiveness; direct testing activities for product and shipment quality.
- Familiarity with all plant and corporate lab procedures and product specifications.
- Maintain customer specification files to ensure compliance with current requirements.
- Perform XRF chemical analyses as required by customers.
- Prepare quality charts, statistical analyses, and routine product samples for analysis at CASL.
- Conduct investigations and root cause analysis on customer complaints.
- Direct all aspects of the Quality Control Program and act as the Manual Coordinator for the Plant QC manual.
- Serve as a member of the plant’s Steering Team and prepare the annual Process Risk Assessment.
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
- Three (3) years of prior supervisory experience in a mining or industrial environment is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and/or ISO 9000 standards.
- Basic understanding of mathematics, statistical analysis, and particle size distributions.
- Desire to take a “hands-on” approach in directing mineral processes, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, ERP, and other business software programs.
