About the role
Supervise the daily activities of Quality Assurance. Embrace Continuous Improvement as a way of life, seeking opportunities to eliminate waste in daily activities. Coach team members in the Toyota Production System to deliver the Highest Quality, Shortest Lead Time, and Lowest Cost to customers.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily activities of Quality Assurance Auditors and Assemblers.
- Coordinate workflow and daily assignments to ensure customer requirements are met and resources are properly allocated.
- Execute the UAW contract with the highest level of integrity and seek win‑win outcomes with team members.
- Contribute to building and sustaining a culture of Continuous Improvement across Bowmar.
- Partner with the Director of Operations and Director of Engineering to develop and implement standard work as the foundation for Continuous Improvement.
- Coach and train all employees in TPS tools such as Standard Work, 5‑S, Process Mapping, Pull Systems, Single‑Piece Flow, and KanBan.
- Lead and support root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams) to resolve nonconformances, customer complaints, and internal quality issues.
- Work with other departments on corrective, preventive, and improvement activities.
- Partner with Director of Quality to ensure processes and audit activities maintain compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100 standards.
- Team with Director of Quality to drive Lean initiatives to improve First Pass Yield, reduce scrap/defects, and optimize process flow.
- Gather, analyze, and summarize quality data to prepare reports and make recommendations.
- Ensure completion and review of internal audits and support external audits.
- Oversee control of nonconforming material and ensure proper documentation and disposition.
- Use the ERP system (Made2Manage) to its fullest potential, ensuring real‑time and accurate data entry.
- Implement visual controls for immediate operational awareness.
- Participate in selecting new team members.
- Provide input to the Director of Quality regarding equipment, process improvements, staffing, and operational needs.

Skills & abilities
- Demonstrated experience with the Toyota Production System.
- Ability to conduct structured root cause analysis and problem‑solving.
- Strong analytical skills for collecting, organizing, and evaluating quality data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- ERP experience preferred.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and evaluate competing demands.
- Positive, professional attitude and appearance.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of production experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 quality management systems preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing quality assurance preferred.
Physical requirements & working conditions
- Requires close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, along with depth perception and focus adjustment.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Work is performed in an air‑conditioned environment with consistently low noise levels.
