Responsibilities

  • Manages the quality management/performance improvement program to achieve organization priority goals and strategic objectives under the guidance of Quality Department leaders.
  • Ensures all state, federal, and commercial payer quality reporting and pay-for-performance programs comply with reporting requirements and support optimal organization reimbursement.
  • Manages patient safety activities, including oversight of the event reporting system.
  • Facilitates the medical staff peer review processes.
  • Coordinates regulatory compliance and accreditation activities.
  • May have cross-campus responsibilities as needed and at the direction of the Director or VP of Quality.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse, currently registered in NYS.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in an acute care facility and experience/participation in performance improvement activities.
  • Comfort with all Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient Excel or equivalent program skills, including the ability to work with large disparate data sets to manipulate data points and inform the organization of progress to goals.
  • Midas experience preferred; must be willing to undergo training to utilize Midas, Epic, and, if directed by quality department leaders, Peak.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) status preferred, or obtained within two years of employment date.
  • Experience with process improvement/Lean/Six Sigma methodologies a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Walks, stands, and sits throughout the day.
  • Manual dexterity for computer work (hand/eye coordination), ability to focus and concentrate for report preparation and analysis of Quality Improvement issues.

Working Conditions

Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated, or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards. Frequent contact with hospital providers and staff.

Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.

Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, work well under pressure, organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills, and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.

Pay

The compensation range for this role is $68,796–$85,995 annually. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining compensation, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, and internal equity).
