About the role

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking a Quality Multi-Function Manager, FAB to join their team in Kinston, NC. The role is critical in ensuring full adherence to manufacturing and quality processes, aligning with stringent aviation industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor adherence to manufacturing and quality processes to ensure compliance with international standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify potential process gaps and improvement opportunities to maintain a high standard of manufacturing and operational excellence.
  • Lead and direct quality organizations or provide cross-functional quality integration leadership.
  • Establish, oversee, and administer processes, policies, and best practices, determine resource requirements, and improve quality measures.
  • Communicate, educate, train, and coach customers, suppliers, and internal personnel on quality requirements and processes.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure quality requirements are integrated into production and sourcing processes.
  • Train and mentor quality team members, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and ongoing development.
  • Provide cross-functional leadership and technical expertise in quality assurance and manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Associate’s degree or 6 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in addition to the education requirements above, in quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering / methods, or a similar role within the aviation industry.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% domestically and internationally.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of aviation Quality Management Systems, Safety Management Systems, and FOD programs, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal teams through all levels of the organization and functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • High degree of flexibility and initiative.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, specifically in English, which is required for operating in a multicultural and multifunctional environment.
  • Proficient in Manufacturing tools (MES) and quality management systems (QMS) used in manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Preferred 10 years’ experience in quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering / methods, or a similar role within the aviation industry.
  • Certifications in quality management, aviation safety, or regulatory compliance preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with aerospace-specific tools such as SAP, MES systems, and statistical software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).

  • Ability to identify process gaps and implement improvements.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of aviation Quality Management Systems, Safety Management Systems, and FOD programs.
  • Proficiency in Manufacturing tools (MES) and quality management systems (QMS).

Pay

Onsite or remote: 100% On-site.

Physical Requirements

  • Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Rarely able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: Weekly able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: Weekly able to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: Several times a month able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: Daily able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Walking (including routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site PPE Required: Safety glasses, bump caps and safety-toed shoes must be worn when on the manufacturing floor.
