Quality NDT Multi-Function Manager
About the role
Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking a Quality NDT Multi-Function Manager to join our team based in Kinston, NC. This role is critical in ensuring full adherence to manufacturing and quality processes, aligning with stringent aviation industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) organizations and provide cross-functional NDT integration leadership.
- Manage NDT personnel across multiple shifts, assigning work and facilitating task completion according to production schedules.
- Interface with other organizations, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to define, evaluate, and communicate project priorities throughout the product/service lifecycle.
- Establish, oversee, and administer processes, policies, and best practices, determine resource requirements, and implement quality measures.
- Mentor NDT team members, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of equivalent experience in NDT, or Associate’s degree or 6 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in NDT within a composite aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 5% domestically and internationally.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and knowledge of aviation Quality Management Systems, Safety Management Systems, and FOD programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in English.
- Knowledge of NDT practices (Ultrasonic, Phased Array, Pulse Echo), AS9100, NADCAP, and other customer requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and high degree of flexibility and initiative.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Qualifications
- Boarding Pass: Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of equivalent experience in NDT.
- Preferred: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in NDT within a composite aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 5% domestically and internationally.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and knowledge of aviation Quality Management Systems, Safety Management Systems, and FOD programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in English.

Physical Requirements
- Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
- Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
- Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
- Equipment Operation: Rarely able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
- Carrying: Weekly able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
- Lifting: Weekly able to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
- Pushing / Pulling: Several times a month able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
- Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
- Squatting / Kneeling: Daily able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
- Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
- Walking (including routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
- Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
