Position Summary
Barton Malow is seeking a Construction Quality Engineer or Manager to join our Preconstruction department for a thermal project in Ashville, Ohio. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining the company's quality program, ensuring compliance with quality and standards in self-perform, subcontractor, and vendor performance on various construction projects. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of construction QA/QC inspection experience on industrial, automotive, and energy projects, familiarity with construction inspection and testing techniques. Travel is expected as part of the role.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Maintaining an effective quality control program by meeting the requirements of the Barton Malow Quality Manual, applicable codes, drawings, specifications, standards, procedures and other related contract documents.
- Review and approval of subcontractor quality programs, inspection and test procedures, and inspection and testing personnel qualification records.
- Ensuring that all required testing and inspections are performed.
- Establishing "Witness" and "Hold" points for inspection as deemed appropriate.
- Identifying and controlling the disposition of nonconformance items, including stop work orders, corrective action planning, and disposition approval and inspection verification.
- Initiate corrective action for deviation in corporate document and process compliance.
- Coordination of qualified testing laboratories or third-party inspection agencies in order to ensure compliance.
- Submitting a monthly quality report identifying measurable quality results.
- Collect, organize, and maintain project quality documentation including testing and inspection logs, test reports, receiving inspections, off-site vendor quality inspections, corrective actions, and other metrics that comprise quality management key performance indicators.
- Coordination with the Project Manager on all quality issues.
- Be heavily involved with and potentially manage the system used to ensure a start-up of equipment and systems.
Required Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities
- 4+ years' experience of construction QA/QC inspection experience on industrial, automotive, and energy projects.
- Willingness to travel for extended periods for assignments within the region.
- Experience with construction inspection and testing techniques.
- OSHA 30 Hour certification is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
