About the role
This position leads quality initiatives, drives a quality mindset across the organization, and serves as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and implement quality improvement activities (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the company’s product lines.
- Educate and train employees on their impact within the quality management system.
- Develop, implement, and manage the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in new product development projects, representing quality assurance and the customer.
- Develop, implement, and document procedures for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection.
- Establish and implement metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) to monitor system effectiveness and enable data-driven decisions.
- Ensure appropriate problem-solving tools are understood and utilized to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
- Establish systems for collecting and analyzing statistical data to predict trends affecting product and process quality.
- Analyze customer product and process specifications to ensure adherence to requirements.
- Collaborate with customers to establish efficient, cost-effective requirements for ease of manufacture and reproducibility.
- Develop quality planning methods for all product lines and process certification standards.
- Interact with customers to identify opportunities for quality improvement and provide feedback to manufacturing and development teams.
- Report on quality issues, trends, and losses.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives to resolve quality control problems and ensure effective corrective action.
- Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality management in a manufacturing setting with direct reports.
- Proven hands-on approach with preference for candidates accustomed to floor involvement rather than desk management.
- Strong customer-facing experience.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP preferred.
- Six Sigma Black-Belt Certification preferred.
