Quality Manager, Huron SD
About the role
The Quality Manager leads quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives at the Huron facility, ensuring compliance with internal standards and industry requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all quality functions for the Huron facility, including welding, machining, fabrication, and assembly operations
- Ensure compliance with Terex quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry codes (AWS, ISO, etc.)
- Oversee machine shop quality through inspection processes, dimensional verification, GD&T interpretation, and process capability monitoring
- Develop and implement quality plans, control plans, inspection methods, and control strategies for manufacturing processes
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) for quality issues, including weld defects and machining nonconformances
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality (COPQ)
- Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to improve product quality and process capability
- Lead internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits
- Develop, coach, and lead the quality team, including inspectors, technicians, and engineers
- Monitor and report key quality metrics such as first-pass yield, defect rates, and customer complaints
- Ensure proper calibration of inspection equipment and adherence to measurement system standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of welding processes and AWS D1.1 standards
- Experience with machine shop quality, including inspection techniques, GD&T, and precision measurement tools
- Demonstrated experience leading root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Preferred qualifications include AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent welding certification, experience in heavy equipment, utility equipment, or truck body manufacturing, certification in Quality (CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt), familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management Systems, experience with robotic welding and automated machining processes

- Proficiency in quality tools (FMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA)

Pay
The salary range for this position is $108,000 to $125,000 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
Schedule
Regular presence on the shop floor required. Use of PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, and other required equipment.
