About the role
The Quality Manager at Georgia-Pacific's Hummingbird® operation in Phoenix, AZ is responsible for developing and managing quality improvement programs, maintaining plant certifications, and acting as a liaison between various departments and customers.
Responsibilities
- Handles customer complaints and internal nonconformances, including communicating with the customer, identifying the root cause, and developing corrective action plans.
- Leads the Process Auditor Team and Internal Audit Team to verify product quality, procedures, and compliance.
- Maintains and improves the Quality Management System to ensure all quality and regulatory requirements are met.
- Supports Continuous Improvement efforts using Lean and Six Sigma methods and techniques.
- Manages BRCGS, HACCP, Blue Diamond, and other Compliance Programs, including training, auditing, and verifying new equipment and process requirements.
- Supports the QC Lab, analyzes lab reports, and assists in product qualification and trials.
- Prepares plant for external audits and serves as the point person during the audit.
- Evaluates supplier performance and conducts audits of suppliers.
- Communicates effectively at all business levels, interfaces with customers and supply chain for quality issues, coaches and influences teams to maintain a culture committed to quality.
- Produces statistical analysis and reports on quality standards, results, and planned improvements.
Requirements
- Three (3) or more years of leadership experience as a Quality Manager in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Experience with inspection methods, industry testing methods, and statistical control techniques.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement within a manufacturing setting.
- Able to drive quality in manufacturing, foster collaboration, and have difficult conversations at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
- Associates degree in Engineering or other technical discipline.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Engineering or other technical discipline.
- Industry experience in Corrugated, Printing, packaging, and/or food and beverage.
- Experience working with QMS, ColorMaster, ColorCert or Measure Color.
- Experience working with Vision Systems.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within fast-paced, 24/7 high volume manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to recognize opportunities for continuous improvement, implement changes utilizing strong prioritization and time management skills.
- Experience as Product Stewardship lead in BRCGS or similar food industry audit.
- Strong Data analysis and statistical aptitude.
- Six Sigma or SPC certification.
