About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Quality Manager to join the Malignant Haematology, Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Services (MHTCTS) at The Alfred. The successful applicant will be responsible for the operational management and continuous improvement of the MHTCTS Quality Management System, supporting compliance with the requirements of NATA, Stem Cell Donors Australia, FACT-JACIE, commercial manufacturers, and clinical trial sponsor requirements.

The MHTCTS at The Alfred collects, processes, and cryopreserves cells for transplantation as part of the care for patients with haematological diseases including leukaemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and related disorders. The service also expands cellular therapy capabilities as a standard-of-care and clinical trial site for CAR-T therapies, collects cells from unrelated donors on behalf of Stem Cell Donors Australia, and provides molecular chimerism testing following allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

Responsibilities

  • Operational management and continuous improvement of the MHTCTS Quality Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with NATA, Stem Cell Donors Australia, FACT-JACIE, commercial manufacturers, and clinical trial sponsor requirements.
  • Coordinate audit readiness, accreditation activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the field of cellular therapy quality management.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a health-related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Quality Management Systems.
  • Internal auditor experience; Lead Auditor qualifications highly regarded.
  • Experience working within regulated quality frameworks including NATA and FACT-JACIE.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Permanent, full-time position (80 hours per fortnight + monthly ADO) at Medical Scientist Grade 4, Year 1-5 (RZ5-RZ7).
