About the Role

This role requires AS9100-based Quality Management System (QMS) knowledge. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the QMS, managing the Quality Engineering group, program quality, and all quality metrics. Collaboration with Production Control, Manufacturing, Program Management, Contracts, Engineering, HR, and senior leadership is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Quality Engineers while developing the next generation of Quality Engineers and future technical and organizational leaders.
  • Promote an “end-to-end” focus on Lean & Quality—from suppliers, through manufacturing processes, to internal and external customers.
  • Ensure all AS9100 QMS processes are fully documented, properly executed, and routinely audited with objective evidence of compliance.
  • Maintain AS9100 and other quality management system requirements, including quality reporting, corrective/preventative actions, internal auditing, and customer complaint tracking.
  • Lead timely and effective root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Drive the use of standardized lean and quality tools, share best practices, and benchmark other world-class companies to elevate operational excellence.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work activities; provide promotion and compensation recommendations; coach, train, and develop employees; and address personnel matters to maintain strong performance standards.
  • Analyze data, identify improvement opportunities, and implement kaizen activities or corrective actions to address risks and drive performance enhancements.
  • Execute quality strategies that support new product development, ensuring readiness for full-rate production.
  • Collaborate with Configuration Management, Supplier Quality, FRB, and QMS teams to support product and process conformance.
  • Oversee FMEA supporting both transition to production and maintenance updates.
  • Effectively use ERP and MES systems to support manufacturing and build activities.
  • Ensure existing programs continue to exceed customer expectations.
  • Communicate issue resolution to senior management, DCMA, and customers.
  • Maintain process and product quality scorecards to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the team in developing proactive measures to ensure product and process quality.
  • Support and participate in the internal audit program.
  • Lead contract and contract document reviews to ensure requirements are clearly understood and fully met.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and prepare appropriate organizational responses.
  • Manage program and overhead costs for the Quality Engineering team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Science, or Mathematics.
  • 4–7+ years of quality leadership experience in an AS9100-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience in Aerospace and Defense best practices.
  • Expert knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Successful track record of talent development and performance management.
  • Experience implementing and sustaining Quality Systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma methods; Green Belt certification or higher preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated statistical analysis capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience with Quality metric dashboards (e.g., QlikView, Power BI, Hertzler GainSeeker).
  • Experience with APQP, MSA/MSE, PPAP preferred.
  • Skilled in QFD, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software, as well as email.

Qualifications

  • Six Sigma certification desired.
  • Lead Auditor certification preferred.

Pay

Textron’s compensation package includes competitive base pay and provides eligible employees with benefit programs. The pay range is used as a general guide and is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
