About the role
Responsible for the management of all quality functions of The Wencor Group's PMA group (PTC), including policies, procedures, and product quality for Part Manufacturing Approval (PMA) & Distribution Inspection.
Responsibilities
- Manage direct and indirect employees in the Quality Department PTC Lab & Receiving Inspection, including education, training, 1:1s, interviewing, hiring, and performance management.
- Oversee the quality system for the PMA Lab, including Quality Assurance Procedures, internal audits, customer audits and responses, root cause analysis, and corrective action systems for PTC Lab and Distribution Receiving Inspection.
- Submit reports of serious defects or recurring un-airworthy conditions in accordance with Wencor QMS procedures.
- Manage all aspects of the Metrology process, including training and performing inspection and test analysis as needed.
- Lead and manage a continuous process improvement program incorporating Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) to resolve process issues, improve capacity and throughput, and address customer complaints.
- Maintain approval and compliance with aerospace industry quality system requirements, including ISO9000, AS9100, FAR Part 21, and major OEM contractual requirements.
- Review technical problems and recommend revisions to enhance overall quality of processes and systems.
- Monitor effectiveness of quality systems through timely reporting of internal and external quality metrics.
- Prepare and achieve department goals focused on product quality, reduction in PQEs, variation reduction, reduced backlog, improved turn time, and increased profitability.
- Prepare and manage the department's annual budget.
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- High degree of organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to think and work independently.
- Basic understanding of lean and Six Sigma performance measurements and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Ability to process map, create and modify procedures, instructions, and training documents.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Access.
- Knowledgeable in modern quality theories (Total Quality Management, Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma).
- Familiarity with process/quality improvement techniques (business process reengineering, Six Sigma, SPC) and quality process standards (ISO 9001, AS9100).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
- Knowledge of quality techniques, methods, and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of company organization, policies, and procedures.
- Understanding of operational methods employed by Engineering, Manufacturing, and Design is helpful.
- Knowledge of current quality control methods, including statistical techniques.
- Certification by the American Society of Quality is desirable.
- Experience with problem-solving, SPC, FMEA, and control plans.
