About the role

Manage all aspects of the internal and external function of the Quality department. Record and report all quality concerns and histories to management and production support personnel. Offer assistance in continuous improvement activities, quality planning, customer satisfaction, and supplier enhancement.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with customers, clients, suppliers, and employees.
  • Serve as quality liaison between the company and the customer base.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct quality assurance programs to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards.
  • Establish and maintain Quality Assurance programs, procedures, and controls.
  • Coordinate Corrective Action needs by reviewing, reporting findings, and making recommendations.
  • Manage internal quality functions including Floor Support, Product Sampling, Rework, and Final Inspection.
  • Oversee the Gage Control Program and the Statistical Process Control Program.
  • Maintain Production Books/Work Instructions in Plex.
  • Ensure all products meet or exceed company quality standards.
  • Oversee supplier auditing and qualification for new or proposed suppliers.
  • Advise on installation and maintenance of inspection and testing procedures for raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products.
  • Manage and coordinate the Quality System standards to meet IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Document all internal activities relative to Quality System standards and provide periodic status reports.
  • Interface with company managers and customers on questions and requirements related to Quality System standards.
  • Coordinate the updating and reporting of quality metrics to management, supervision, and floor support.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and assist in its implementation.
  • Foster company values and act as a steward of company resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, values, ethics, and rules.
  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment.
  • Support and enforce the company’s equal employment opportunity policy.
  • Support quality and environmental management systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly manage Quality Engineers, Quality Supervisors, Metallurgists, and other quality support functions.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, and address complaints and resolve problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (technical field preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably automotive).
  • 1-3 years of experience in a leadership position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional quality certification preferred (e.g., ASQ-CQE, ASQ-CQA, ASQ-CQM).
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949 quality systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and corrective action background.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) methodology.
  • Familiarity with quality management tools, concepts, and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of SPC and gage calibration methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of CMM Technology.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, variance analysis, and SPC.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and business information systems (PLEX experience preferred).
  • Ability to interpret ideas and concepts to make informed decisions.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.

Work Environment

The work environment involves typical manufacturing conditions. The company will meet all legal obligations related to reasonable accommodation.

Key metrics for this role include IATF 16949 certification, timely distribution of Cost of Quality Report, PPM, and customer complaint resolution.
