About the role
Develop, implement, and coordinate a product assurance program to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products.
Responsibilities
- Research, evaluate, and present information on business situations, production capabilities, manufacturing problems, economic trends, and design and development of new products for management consideration.
- Suggest and debate alternative methods and procedures to solve problems and meet changing market opportunities.
- Contribute to formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals alongside other top management personnel.
- Evaluate reports from product assurance program department heads and confer with top management to prepare the fiscal budget for the product assurance program.
- Conduct management meetings with product assurance program department heads to establish, review, and coordinate organizational policies, functions, and operations between departments.
- Interface with customers on technical and quality issues and improvement initiatives.
- Manage customer audits and regulatory/compliance agency audits.
- Review technical problems and procedures of departments and recommend solutions or changes.
- Visit and confer with representatives of material and component vendors to assess supply quality, vendor capacity, and quality standards.
- Confer with engineers about quality assurance of new products and manufactured products on the market to rectify problems.
- Review technical publications, articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of industry developments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience and training.
- 8 years of experience developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems or related areas.
- Previous managerial experience.
- 7 years of electromechanical integration or PCB assembly experience.
- 5 years of Lean manufacturing experience.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
