Responsibilities
- Plans and coordinates all aspects of the company’s quality program.
- Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives, supervises and trains employees, and engages in plant functions.
- Develops and analyzes statistical data and specifications to determine present product standards and establish proposed quality/reliability expectancy.
- Coordinates quality objectives with other organizational groups to achieve an economical product/service quality and reliability level.
- Plans, promotes, and organizes quality training and communication activities.
- Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
- Maintains compliance with Giddings & Lewis Quality Management Systems (QMS) based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other applicable standards.
- Supports management review meetings and reports on QMS effectiveness.
- Coordinates internal audit programs, reporting findings and corrective action follow-up.
- Liaises with external auditors and certification bodies.
- Trains employees on QMS procedures and requirements and promotes understanding of the QMS.
- Acts as liaison with customers on contract quality issues for all goods and services produced by the plant.
- Implements document control systems and coordinates review and approval activities for the Quality Manual, procedures, and work instructions.
- Leads Supplier Development programs and improvements, including recommendations for supplier selection or termination.
- Establishes supplier quality performance metrics and performs supplier evaluations, including quality control plans and product reviews.
- Coordinates supplier corrective actions and drives resolution of supplier quality issues.
- Develops performance measures to assess the effectiveness of quality processes.
- Establishes formal quality verification systems and standards to ensure all products, components, and materials meet company and customer requirements.
- Implements practices and procedures to provide confidence in measuring capabilities throughout manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Coordinates activities for identifying, handling, dispositioning, and reporting nonconformance, and directs analytical efforts to eliminate causes of non-conformance.
