Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain a documented quality program that meets customer requirements and corporate standards.
- Direct and supervise the work of the quality department employees.
- Provide procedures, as required, to support quality department objectives.
- Provide training to individuals whose work affects quality issues in the requirements of the BMS.
- Review customer proposals, requests for quotations and/or purchase orders, including changes, to determine quality requirements, and insure their input into internal planning.
- Establish/maintain relations with customer representatives in quality related activities, including source inspection, audits and process surveys.
- Interface with other departments to provide assistance, resolve problems and monitor work affecting quality.
- Perform activities defined in the BMS responsibility matrix.
- Maintain supplier qualification to insure their ability to perform work meeting quality standards and obtaining process approvals.
- Acts as a member of the management team and performs other duties as dictated by position or required by the General Manager.
- Practice and promotes safety and good housekeeping
- Must work in a manner consistent with the EMS
Requirements
- Metallurgy or Material Science degree required.
- Minimum of 3 years department management and 2 years direct supervisory experience.
- Experience and practical knowledge of commercial heat treatment of automotive alloys including steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel, brass, copper, etc.
- Ability to read, write and communicate the English language to interface with management and all levels, both in-house and at customer’s place of business.
- Demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language to interface with management and all levels, both in-house and at customer’s place of business.
- Thoroughly familiar with commercial (AMS, ASTM), automotive specifications, ISO, AS, QS and TS quality systems.
- Possess thorough understanding and working knowledge of PPAP processes.
- Have experience or be willing to learn lean and sustainability principles.
Qualifications
