Quality Manager

Primary Responsibilities

• Aid in developing key processes that promote food safety, process consistency, and product quality.
• Train, educate, coach, and mentor production leads and operators in key food safety and quality processes and requirements.
• Provide expertise, guidance, and leadership regarding regulatory compliance at the plant level.
• Act as a primary liaison to corporate Quality Assurance and outside regulatory agencies, such as USDA, FDA, OSHA, and Utah Department of Agriculture.
• Act as a primary liaison for customer quality concerns and complaint issues.
• Manage the contracted food safety prerequisites, such as pest control, water management, lubricant, and chemical safety.
• Ensure highly disciplined compliance with all product and process quality standards, including product quality evaluation, formulations, procedures, programs, and systems, such as hold and release, recall, and foreign material contamination guidelines and resolutions.
• Perform other food safety and quality tasks as applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in food science or a related field (preferred), or equivalent experience (6+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment).
• 2+ years of FSQA Management experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Mid-level understanding of microbiology and food science.
• Strong computer skills and understanding of process excellence methodologies.
• Knowledge and experience with USDA, FDA, OSHA, HACCP regulations.
• Experience with Gluten Free regulations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to constantly lift, bend, stretch, and stand during entire shift.
• Frequent kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping, twisting, and reaching overhead with repetitive motions.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Constant exposure to allergens such as milk, eggs, fish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans.
• Constant operation of a computer and other office machinery such as calculators, copy machine, etc.
• Ability to remain in a sitting position for long periods of time.
